RocketChat First Login¶
This guide walks you through signing in to the Synderys RocketChat instance for the first time using your organization credentials.
Before You Begin¶
You will need:
- Your Synderys username and password
- Your enrolled MFA device (authenticator app or security key)
- A modern web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge)
Sign-In Steps¶

Open your web browser and navigate to https://rocketchat.synderys.com.

On the sign-in page, click the Login with Authentik button.

You will be redirected to the Authentik login page. If you are already signed in to another Synderys service (GitLab, Grafana, etc.), you will be authenticated automatically without re-entering your credentials.

If prompted, enter your username and password, then click Sign In.

Complete the MFA challenge using your authenticator app or security key.

After authentication, you will be redirected back to RocketChat and signed in automatically.
What to expect
Your RocketChat account is automatically created on first login using your Authentik profile. Your display name and email address are pulled from your Authentik credentials. You do not need to create a separate RocketChat account.
After Your First Login¶
Once signed in, you will land in the Home screen. Here are the first things to do:

Join channels -- Click the search icon (magnifying glass) in the left sidebar and browse available channels. Click a channel name and then Join to participate.

#general-- This is the default channel where team-wide announcements are posted. -
Set your notification preferences -- Click your avatar in the top-left corner, then My Account > Notifications. Configure how you want to receive alerts for messages, mentions, and direct messages.

Upload a profile photo -- Click your avatar, then My Account > Profile. Upload a photo so your team can identify you easily.

Desktop and mobile apps
When configuring desktop or mobile clients, use https://rocketchat.synderys.com as the server URL. The app will redirect you to Authentik for sign-in, just like the web browser.
Troubleshooting FAQ¶
Q: I do not see the "Login with Authentik" button on the login page. : Clear your browser cache and hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows/Linux, Cmd+Shift+R on Mac). If the button still does not appear, try an incognito/private browsing window.
Q: I get a "not found" error after clicking the Authentik button. : This usually means the Authentik server is temporarily unreachable. Wait a few minutes and try again. If the problem persists, contact IT.
Q: I signed in successfully but I do not see any channels. : You start with access to public channels only. Click the search icon to find and join channels. If you need access to private channels, ask the channel owner or IT.
Q: RocketChat shows my name or email incorrectly. : Your profile is synced from Authentik on each login. Contact IT to update your details in Authentik, and the changes will take effect on your next sign-in.
Q: I am asked for a two-factor authentication code by RocketChat. : This should not happen -- RocketChat 2FA is disabled because Authentik handles MFA. Contact IT if you see this prompt.
Q: I cannot access RocketChat from outside the office. : RocketChat is accessible from the internet. If you cannot reach it, check your network connection and try accessing other Synderys services. If only RocketChat is affected, contact IT.
